About
Concept To Creation. Honesty. Integrity. Excellence.
Having been trained in traditional furniture construction and design and experienced the application of these traditional methods across a range of mostly American furniture design, I can truly say that I just enjoy making well - whatever the piece may be - with the standards I have learned. I emphasize craftsmanship in my work and seek to appeal to those who value handcrafted goods (as opposed to design manufactured) and pure materials. I let the material speak for itself being of highest quality, carefully selecting each component that makes up the whole design. I take a great deal of time carefully thinking over the aesthetic and practical demands of each commission, designing in consultation and collaboration. I work with transparency and honesty, and value clear communication and education in my consultation. I build with techniques that are time tested knowing and wanting my work to be tested and examined. I believe that the things we own should inspire and enable us to connect with each other and the natural world around us, being in themselves a representation of the beauty found in those relationships. I know this cannot be achieved by manufacture, only through the integrity of a process in which the Maker is intimately connected to each piece he creates, intending every nuance of design and creation, and bringing to complete fulfillment the idea that originally came. I seek excellence in everything I do and get a lot of satisfaction from the work I do.
"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things but their inward significance."
